Off to Utah

For a week. I am trying to limit my use of vacation, and this is mostly a family visit. I plan to drive straight up and straight back, with no more than an occasional photograph along the way. I may have time for a little geology in central Utah, so look for that in a future post.

Not much posting lately for two reasons: First, we are having an excellent monsoon, and it’s tending to be rainy on weekends, which limits hiking and photographing. Second, I am seriously preparing the book for formal publication, and it’s very time-consuming. I’ll give more details when I have more details to give.

I have, however, registered for the fall field conference of the New Mexico Geological Society at the end of September. I plan to post a bit of preparatory stuff on the geology of the Socorro area, and of course I’ll post a full report of the conference when I get back.
