Another appointment with Dr. Sauer today, and he was sufficiently pleased with my progress to instruct me to start walking with the “boot”. Two weeks of this, and if all goes well, I will be out of the boot and well on the way to normal activity.

The catch: My ankle is still stiff enough that Dr. Sauer is threatening to sic the physical therapists on me. I’ve had physical therapy twice before; they are very nice people; and I never want to see them again (in a professional capacity.) So I need to be working on my ankle flexibility at home.

Being able to walk, even slowly and heavily, makes me feel almost human again.
