The Cerro Pelado fire:

Seen looking west from near my house. The fire is at about 15,000 acres. It’s not fast moving, but it’s relentless. It has moved into a burn scar from eleven years ago, and all the downed wood from the earlier burn is providing abundant slow-burning fuel. The expectation is that it will not be out until the rainy season arrives, which we’re told won’t be before July.

Blogging will be light as most of the Jemez is now closed to traffic.

Meanwhile, the book is now down to just 600 pages and less than 1000 images. Still a long ways to go.
